EXCLUSIVE: Zanjoe Marudo is ready to go sexy with Cristine Reyes for their first soap



In an exclusive interview with Zanjoe Marudo, the actor-model shared with ABS-CBN.com that he and Cristine Reyes will start taping Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Kristine Series by March. It’s their first time to work together on screen but the workshops that they have attended so far have helped build the chemistry between them. “Hindi naman kami close, hindi naman kami friends so parang nakakailang talaga nung una. Pero after nung workshop namin okay na, kumportable na kami. Tahimik lang siya lalo na kapag ‘di niya kakilala yung mga tao. Pero once na nakilala mo na siya cool naman siya kasama. Actually yung ginawa namin bonding lang muna ng cast tsaka ng staff at crew. Kasi eight months kami magsasama-sama so gusto ni Direk Rory Quintos close kaming lahat para magaan ang trabaho sa set,” he revealed.

Since PHR is known for its sexy scenes, Zanjoe admitted that he was a bit unsure if he could pull off a daring role this time around. “Nung una nag-aalangan kasi medyo sexy siya. Hindi naman ako sanay kasi lahat ng mga nagiging role ko puro mga wholesome. Sa Coverboys lang naman nagiging sexy,” he explained with a laugh. “Pero nung binasa ko yung treatment tsaka yung role ko, sobrang ganda naman tsaka bagong characters yung ipapakita namin dito.” The fact that this project is under the business unit of Director Lauren Dyogi was also a huge factor why he was convinced to accept it. “Hindi naman niya ako pababayaan na bigyan ng kung anu-ano lang. Tsaka siyempre dun ako nagsimula sa kanila (Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition) so kailangan kong ibalik sa kanila yung break na binigay din naman nila sa akin.”

Ever since PHR was serialized on TV, avid fans of the Kristine pocketbook series have been waiting for this installment. Knowing this, Zanjoe agreed that it would really be a challenge to meet their expectations once the show airs on ABS-CBN. “Yung book kasi kahit sabihin mong meron akong helicopter at yate diyan pwede. Pero ‘pag sa TV na kasi, sa visual, mahirap gawin. Kailangan ng napakalaking pera at napakalaking lugar or napakagandang paraiso para ma-achieve yung hacienda Fortalejo dun sa book. Pero siyempre hindi naman namin ilalayo. Ipapakita lang namin kung ano yung yung totoo na pwedeng mangyari,” said the dashing actor who will be playing the notorious Bernard Fortalejo.

As to the requirements Director Rory, Zanjoe shared that the only thing that the acclaimed director asked from him and Kristine was to avoid being late on the set. “First time ko din makaka-work si Direk Rory na napakabait at relax lang so parang hindi kami mapre-pressure sa kanya. Pero sabi niya sa una talagang magtiyaga raw kami... Tsaka hinihingi lang talaga niya walang male-late. Mahirap kasi minsan late ka pinack up sa kabila tapos kukuha ka pa ng gamit. Pero maganda na rin yung ‘di mo sila bibigyan ng reason para sumakit yung ulo, so kailangan sumunod sa rules,” he beamed.
